A recent report suggests that guarantees on income and capital are becoming increasingly important to investors in the turbulent times we are witnessing in the world’s stockmarkets.
The results from the sixth run of leading insurer, Aegon, and their IFA Insights survey reveal almost 90% of advisers say guaranteed levels of income are important to their clients, with around 80% saying clients want to protect their investment capital. Quite naturally, the importance of obtaining a guaranteed income in retirement, such as a pension annuity, has come to the fore in recent weeks and months.
Guaranteed products, such as pension annuities and variable annuities, come into their own in current stockmarket conditions. Many people see such products as offering value for money in return for peace of mind.
Research firm,Populus, interviewed 100 independent financial advisers (IFA’s) specialising in retirement, long term savings and investment products for this survey between 23 June and 2 July this year.
Aegon’s own consumer research findings earlier this year found that 85% of people surveyed chose a guaranteed income for life when asked which options appealed to them in retirement.
