First, don’t just take the annuity quote on offer from your pension fund provider.
Secondly, do take up the open market option; the right you have to shop around with your pension fund to buy the best annuity rate.
Thirdly, don’t think you know it all; that you have done the research. Don’t just go ahead and buy an annuity yourself.
Fourthly, do seek advice. There are specialists out there who know more about pension annuities and the various options than you do.
The upshot of all this is that you should end up with the right annuity at retirement, the right one for you. Despite the falling annuity rates we are witnessing.
