It is important that you understand how the service offered through this website is actually provided. Hopefully this, combined with other information we’ve provided, will give you good reasons to use our service and have the confidence that we can deliver.
You can take as long as you like; there aren’t any sales or call targets. Any calls you make to us are free. There’s no hard sell, and you won’t be rushed into doing anything.
Once you have made initial contact with AEGON Direct, the providers of this service, whether online or by freephone, the process you experience is broken down into 4 key steps.
Your adviser will take the time to get to know you and what you want from your retirement. In this call he or she will cover what’s important to you and what financial planning you may have already done.
He or she will discuss your circumstances, including for example, your health, any lifestyle issues, your tax position, your family and what you want to achieve with your retirement income.
If you suffer from ill health we can assist you with a dedicated telephone underwriting service, immediate accurate annuity quotes, and also a 45 day quote guarantee period for enhanced annuities and impaired life annuities.
With your permission, contact will be made with your current pension company to ask them the technical questions required to find out what type of pension plan you currently have and how that might affect the retirement solutions and the annuity types and annuity options that can be recommended for you.
This normally takes around two weeks. Not all pension companies are comfortable sending that information, so you might have to be asked to contact them to get the details required.
Your adviser will call again – at a time that suits you – to explain the recommendation. This will be personal to you and is designed to meet your specific needs and circumstances, based on the details that you provide and the information from your current pension company.
This call won’t be rushed as it’s important that you understand, and are comfortable with, all aspects of the recommendation. You don’t have to accept the recommendation, and, remember, there’s no obligation, so you can walk away at this point.
If you accept the recommendation your adviser makes, you’ll be sent a pack explaining it all, this will include:
■ A suitability report, explaining why this recommendation is right for you.
■ An application form for the recommended product. To help save you time, much of this will be filled in from the details you and your pension company have already provided.
Then it’s up to you. If you wish to proceed with our recommendation, please complete and return the various documentation as soon as you are able. Try and avoid any delays as this might result in lost income.
